What training have staff had in supporting pupils with SEND?

All of our teaching assistants are trained to deliver a range of small group interventions.

One member of staff is qualified to use BSL (British Sign Language).

 

Teaching assistants have attended a wide variety of courses including the use of Switch-On Reading, Guided Reading and the use of Numicon.

 

All teaching assistants are trained in Positive Play and receive regular training in this area. 

 

A Foundation teacher is trained in the use of ECAT – Every Child a Talker. A scheme to help children with speech and language difficulties, particularly in the early years of school.

 

A number of staff are trained in the safe moving and handling of children with physical impairments.

 

Mrs O'Hara has received training on SEND provision.

 

Mrs Kealy has achieved the SENCO qualification through Northampton University.
