Reception Phonics

Phonics involves matching the sounds of spoken English with individual letters or groups of letters. For example, the sound k can be spelled as c, k, or ck.  Teaching children to blend the sounds of letters together helps them decode unfamiliar or unknown words by sounding them out. Children will have daily Phonics lessons after Week 2 of the first term. We will be in touch shortly inviting you to a Phonics meeting where we will give you more information on how we teach Phonics at school and how you can support with your child's reading and phonetic understanding at home.
