Mouse Club
Mouse Club
Mouse Club is a project devised by the National Parental Network to help staff in schools to build positive relationships with families as their child starts school. It can help parents to understand how they can help their child get ready for and settle into schools.
We started Mouse Club in September 2020 to help our new children settle into school and to help our current KS1 children return to school after such a long time away. Mouse Club has proved to be very successful and separation anxiety was significantly reduced during the first few weeks of term.
Our children happily put their mice into their individual mouse houses and will go and retrieve their mouse if they feel the need for a bit of a cuddle or if they want to play with their mouse. They know to return the mouse safely to it's house when group learning or whole class learning is happening. Our children look after their mice very well and so far all original mice are still with their new owners!
Our class mouse- Maurice, gets up to all sort of fun and mischief and we enjoy looking at photographs of what our friends' mice have been up to at home with their owners.
Below, we have uploaded a power point presentation to explain some principles of Mouse Club and some pdf documents with further information about the project and the activity cards.
